So you make YouTube videos, but you haven’t ventured into YouTube shorts or TikToks yet. Maybe you don’t have the time, or perhaps you just don’t know how to. Well, in this article, I’m going to show you an easy way to turn your existing YouTube videos into shorts or TikToks using a free site called Let’s get right into it!

Signing Up on

First, let’s head over to You’ll find the link to this page in the description below. Once you’re on the site, click on “Start Munching for Free.” Now, if you’re already logged into Google with your Gmail account, hit “Continue with Google” to use your Gmail credentials. If you’re logged into Facebook, click on “Continue with Facebook.” Alternatively, if you prefer to use another email, simply type it in and create a password.

Exploring Munch Features

Munch offers a free lite version that will suit our needs. The free version allows us to convert our videos from landscape to portrait mode, and the videos can be up to 15 minutes long. The only drawback is that there will be a watermark on the converted videos. However, if you decide to upgrade, the premium version costs $100 a month, removing the watermark and automatically selecting the best parts of your videos. Feel free to explore the additional features, but for this article, we’ll stick with the free version.

Getting Started with

Once you’re logged into Munch, you’ll see the home screen. Before we start editing a video, we need to find one to convert. Head over to YouTube and locate the video you want to turn into a YouTube short or TikTok. For example, let’s say I want to convert my video on Xbox Game Pass. To get the video’s link, click on “Share” and then copy the link provided.

Now, back on, click on the plus button, “Munch Another Video.” Choose the type of project you want to create—we’ll stick with the free version. Give your project a name; for instance, “Game Pass.” In the “Insert Content Link” field, paste the YouTube link you copied earlier. Make sure to set the output ratio to 9×16, which is ideal for YouTube shorts or TikToks. Finally, click on “Create.”

Trimming Your YouTube Video

Once the video finishes uploading to Munch, it will begin playing in a 9×16 aspect ratio. Now, we need to trim the video to select the desired starting and ending points. Suppose you already know where you want the video to start and end. In my case, I want it to start at one minute and seven seconds and end at one minute and 49 seconds.

To trim the video, pause it and drag the progress bar back to the beginning. Then, drag the little arrow to the desired starting point, which is one minute and seven seconds in this example. Next, drag the arrow to the desired ending point, which is one minute and 49 seconds. Before downloading the clip, play it back to ensure everything looks and sounds the way you want it.
